Oscar Vautherin es artista plástico. Fue como
tantas otras veces, sin querer, cuando al contarnos sus viajes por África
nos
habló de paso,
de
sus talleres de construcción de máscaras con niños. Nos fascinaron tanto sus
historias y su disposición tan entusiasta, que no dudamos en proponerle como
artista invitado para uno de nuestros talleres en La Casa Encendida.
Mese
más tarde, llegó al aula con un montón de imágenes de máscaras rituales de los
negros, y unas pocas máscaras reales, de
cartón,
fabricadas
y pintadas por niños. Para facilitarnos la comprensión y
manipulación de la pieza, sus cortes, las partes
por donde hay que doblar etc., preparó
un patrón a
tamaño
reducido, para una vez hecho ese primer ensayo, pasar a trabajar a tamaño real.
